Haslar Wall

I headed over to Haslar Wall in Gosport today to wet some new braid for my LRF reel. There were plenty of guys out making the most of the sunshine but the wind was a bit stronger than expected. To make things worse, the braid didn't turn out to be very good. It was on the thick side for such light braid and didn't get any better once saturated in the salt water.
After a while playing around in more open water with some lures I switched over to the dropshot and headed towards some rocks. Using pink Isome worms I pulled out one blenny after another with the biggest of them giving a good pull on the rod as it swallowed the hook. Amongst the blennies I had a small sand smelt and a corkwing wrasse and with my usual spot on the rocks taken by feather flingers I decided to head into Gosport town centre and try Millennium Pier.
The pier was closed due to an overhaul despite a sign advising they would try and open it on weekends. The other spot I wanted to try was taken by a few guys not seeming to have much joy. With the weed rife around the rocks I decided to head home and put some trusty HTO braid back on my reel for the next session.
