Dancing Ledge

Me and my buddy Lee headed down to Dorset to the Dancing Ledge today for a bit of LRF on a beautiful sunny day. Neither of us had ever been so didn't know what to expect. After parking up and strolling down a country road we were greeted with the hill. We headed down, traversed a few rocks and made it down to the fishing grounds.

We were fishing blind not knowing what fish may be down there. Wrasse for certain, but hopefully some nice pollack or bass. Wrasse it was. We both hauled in numerous corkwings and ballans, none of any real size. Lee headed off for a bit of an exploration while I scoured the grounds for something bigger. A few casts later I had the best wrasse of the day on a red HTO stink pot paddle tail.

We switched tactics a bit and moved onto the metals in search of a couple of bass but instead we ended up hooking into a few mackerel. They were the best sized mackerel I've seen this year and Lee had a wry smile on his face when he hooked into one on his LRF rod. After that, everything seemed to die down so we decided to call it a day on the ledge.

We headed into Swanage to have a couple of hours on the pier but there wasn't much happening down there. After half a dozen or so micro pout it was starting to look like that was all that was down there. We did manage some wrasse and blennies but decided to pack up and head home once the sun disappeared and the wind started picking up.

With plenty of coast to explore I'm looking forward to finding that sweet spot to deliver the bigger fish and make that grin just a little bit bigger.
