I was working from home on this lovely sunny day getting hot and bothered and itching to finish so I could get out and catch some fish. As soon as the clock struck 4 I was out of the door and on my bike with my rucksack and LRF rod in tow heading down to the outflow pipe in Eastney.
Despite it being very sunny there was a fair westerly blowing on the seafront making lure work very difficult. That and the weed was pretty terrible so with the lures coming back covered in weed time after time I switched over to the dropshot rig and had a poke around to see what little stuff I could find.
Finding some gaps in the weed to drop my weight into, the red Isome worm didn't seem to be picking anything up. I switch over to white and as soon as I drop it to the bottom and start to add some tension to the line the rod tip starts rattling.
The first was just a tiddler but then in the next two drops I pulled up two more nice sized Scorpos. After that it went dead and despite a few little nibbles while scratching around there didn't seem to be anything taking. With the weed starting to crowd the end of the pipe I decided to pack it up and was happy with the three Scorpos. I really do love these fish, they scrap well and they're awesome looking fish!
